Quinton V. Cancel, MD

I really enjoy both the surgical and medical aspects of urology. I particularly like working with state-of the-art technology.
Professional
I received my urologic training at Duke University Medical Center, where I had the opportunity to learn from the leaders in urology. My experiences with the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System were invaluable, and I am thrilled to bring “Duke-style” urologic care to the Upper Cumberland region. We have established a strong, credible and aggressive urologic robotic program that is respected across the state through The Robotics Program at CRMC. Our focus is on both quality and patient satisfaction, which go hand in hand. Being a certified da Vinci® proctor, I travel across the country visiting hospitals and training other physicians on how to perform robotic surgery. I can proudly say that we have a first-class operation here in Cookeville.
Family
I am blessed to have a wonderful wife, Kristea, of nearly 10 years, and we have two extremely active and comical boys (Quinton II and Jackson) who are the joys of our lives.
Hobbies/Interests
I enjoy nature walks by waterfalls or going out on the lake with the family. I also enjoy watching our boys play in their Little League games and music recitals. I’m an award-winning artist and like to draw and create. I like to exercise and stay fit. I am a connoisseur of fine haberdashery and enjoy the culinary arts. I am also active in my local church, where I serve as a deacon and in health ministries.

Community Service
I believe strongly in giving back to the community and making a positive contribution to society. Because I believe that mentoring is important, we spearheaded the effort to re-establish the physician shadowing program between the CRMC doctors and the Tennessee Tech Chemical-Medical Sciences Club. We also offer free community health seminars at CRMC to inform and educate the public on the diagnosis and treatment of urologic conditions.
